Business Systems Analyst

We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst to join our team, reporting to the Vice President, Information Technology. This role will support and enhance distribution and back‑office integrations within the asset management environment, working closely with third‑party vendors and transfer agents. Operating in an Azure cloud ecosystem, the BSA will ensure stable data flows, troubleshoot data quality issues, and manage file delivery timelines. This role also collaborates with internal partners — including operations, finance, and sales—to gather requirements and support smooth, reliable system performance.

This is a new full-time position based in our Toronto office, with an expected annual compensation range of $75,000 - $90,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities:
Business Requirements & Analysis:

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, to gather and document business requirements related to distribution and back-office processes, focusing on integration with transfer agents and third-party vendors.
  • Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
  • Manage data quality, delivery timing, and system performance with external vendors.
 
System Design & Implementation:

  • Lead testing, validation strategies, and monitoring of performance metrics.
  • Oversee the integration of internal distribution and back-office systems with third-party vendors, ensuring seamless data flow and timely delivery of files.
  • Develop system testing and validation strategies to monitor data accuracy, file delivery schedules, and performance metrics (e.g., response time, error rate).
 
Process Optimization:

  • Identify areas of improvement within distribution and back-office processes, particularly focusing on optimizing workflows and ensuring smooth integration with external parties.
  • Ensure that IT systems maintain 100% uptime, with specific focus on monitoring and resolving issues.
 
Stakeholder & Vendor Management:

  • Act as a liaison between business users, technical teams, and external vendors
  • Manage relationships with external vendors to address any challenges related to project or IT operational needs
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders in operations, finance, and sales regarding project milestones and integration progress.
  • Conduct training and provide ongoing support to internal teams to ensure they can effectively utilize the new or enhanced systems.

Cloud Integration & Data Management:

  • Ensuring that data management practices support system performance, security, and governance.
  • Continuously monitor third-party integrations to ensure timely and accurate data exchange, resolving any data quality issues as they arise.
 
Reporting & Documentation:

  • Maintain up-to-date documentation on system processes, configurations, and integrations, ensuring that issues are tracked and resolved efficiently.
  • Utilize tools like Power BI (PBI) and MS Dynamics to generate reports on system performance and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation of system changes and updates for both internal knowledge sharing and external audits.
 
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced certifications (e.g., PMP, CBAP, cloud) are an asset.
  • 3-4 years as a Business Systems Analyst, with experience in distribution and back-office integrations in the mutual fund industry.
  • Proven ability to capture and document functional/technical requirements and manage third‑party integrations, including data quality, delivery delays, and performance issues.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Azure cloud services, integration processes, automation, troubleshooting, and cloud application design.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for automation and data integration.
  • Familiarity with Power BI and MS Dynamics for reporting, dashboards, and performance tracking.
  • Solid understanding of APIs, middleware, and resolving data quality issues across internal and external systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Knowledge of financial services integration platforms and familiarity with asset‑management regulatory and compliance requirements is an advantage.
